The Saju view
Counted by its first sound, Serena is a metal name, since that sound is made against the teeth. In Saju, Serena carries fire. That makes it a natural choice for charts where fire is the thinnest of the five elements. Serena supports earth from behind: its fire sound is the traditional source of that element. A chart that already holds plenty of fire is better served by another name, since Serena would add to it.
