The Saju view
Because Desmond begins with T, D, N, L or R, the system counts its first sound as fire, and the first sound weighs double. If your Four Pillars show little fire, Desmond is worth a closer look: its fire sound is the kind the tradition recommends for a shortage. Desmond supports earth from behind: its fire sound is the traditional source of that element. If fire is already strong in a chart, Desmond ranks lower there, because it piles on more of the same element.
