There is a ripple in the way Allison sounds, with its soft, liquid consonants and open vowels. Millions of people know someone called Allison, which is what a place among the most common U.S. names looks like. Most people named Allison in U.S. birth records are girls.
The Saju view
Allison opens with a soft, open sound, such as a vowel, H, W or Y, which the pronunciation-element tradition files under earth. If your Four Pillars show little fire, Allison is worth a closer look: its fire sound is the kind the tradition recommends for a shortage. Allison supports earth from behind: its fire sound is the traditional source of that element. A chart that already holds plenty of fire is better served by another name, since Allison would add to it.

The astrology view
To the ear Allison sounds water, the element of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Those signs hear a familiar voice in it, and Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn find it a friendly partner. Charts led by fire and air signs hear the water sound of Allison as a contrast, so it ranks lower there.
